Why do some volcanoes explode?
Today, students investigated how differences in lava types explain differences in the shape and eruption patterns among volcanoes. Students experimented with “lava” of different thicknesses to solve the mystery. Ask your student to explain the difference between a cone and shield volcano.
The Marshmallow Challenge
Students worked together today to problem solve and test their teamwork abilities. In eighteen minutes, teams must build the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string, and one marshmallow. The marshmallow must be on the top. Each team successfully built a standing structure!
Bozone Ozone Bus (BOB) Visit
Today we had a fun visit from the BOB bus. Students learned the difference between a local and industrial food supply. We also were able to refine our knowledge of what items are appropriate to compost and even got to taste some bus-raised produce.
Fun Run
Our LaMotte Bears showed up today to run to raise money for activities students partake in throughout the year. The students raised $4,400 and had a lot of fun!
